The Sediment Transfer System (STS) is a fully automated sediment conveyor developed to safely and efficiently move sediment downstream from water intake structures. Originally designed for run-of-river hydroelectric projects, the STS is a flexible solution that can be adapted to a variety of aquatic environments experiencing sedimentation challenges.

The STS is a low-speed, high-durability conveyor system composed of two main parts:
Drive Base: Electric motor and control system
Drive Line: Chains and buckets to transfer sediment
As the system reciprocates, it methodically transfers sediment from upstream of a water intake structure to a location where the river’s natural flow can redistribute it.
